Saturday May 19th, the brothers of the Bearded Villains Miami chapter took part in a local event called a “March For Cancer” in Fort Lauderdale. To find a family in these days that hasn’t been affected by cancer seems nearly impossible, so the movement to be a part of the fight against cancer is a movement taken very seriously by the 305 chapter. The March For Cancer event has been going on for years in the Fort Lauderdale area and has been making an impact in the community since day one.
On this particular Saturday, the elements were doing their best to stop the large groups of different people looking to make an impact in the battle against cancer, throwing wind and rain at all participants throughout the day. It is said that rain on an important day can be a sign of many things, death, birth, new beginnings etc. The Miami brothers took the rain in stride and decided to look at the drizzling skies, as an opportunity to express their dedication to defeating the forever looming monster that is this ailment.
As the walk began, it was obvious the importance this journey is to each brother, each step in unison, every chest filled with love and pride and bursting with stead fast determination to complete the task ahead. As the rain pushed harder in trying to prevent the participants from finishing their walk, the BV305 brothers pressed on, their laughter becoming louder as did the stories they shared of the friends and family they were walking for; some battling cancer at this time, and some long passed, but all honored on this day.
This day will be remembered for a lot of reasons, one, the path to achieving a common goal will not always be easy, in fact, if it is worth it will often be met with challenges that can make the end goal feel impossible. However, the Bearded Villains brotherhood has often taken on these challenges that appeared impossible and surpassed them. Two, the necessity of honoring the ones who have, are, and will fight cancer is eminent. Three, there is no force great enough to stop a group determined to make a change. The Bearded Villains Miami chapter will continue to do their part in this fight against cancer and wants to take this moment to thank all who have helped support them along the way. To all those fighting we say, hold fast and know, we have your back.
